Emma George
Emma George BA, MSc, MCIPD
Emma graduated from University College, Cardiff in Psychology, having a particular interest in psychology applied to the workplace. With a MSc (Distinction) in Human Resource Management, she has a wide knowledge of HR issues in a variety of organisational contexts.
Since graduating she has worked as a project consultant for a research group before moving to work2health. She is experienced in designing and implementing organisational research through a variety of methodologies.
Emma has a particular interest in mental health in the workplace, in particular, bullying and stress in the workplace. Her interest in bullying at work has meant Emma has recently received a commendation from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development on her MSc dissertation on the issue. Emma has conducted stress audits and facilitated stress focus groups for public bodies throughout Wales.
Emma has worked on a number of projects for the European Network of Workplace Health Promotion, including mapping networks of workplace health promotion in the UK. This has given her a good appreciation and knowledge of scope and activity of UK wide networks in workplace health.
Emma’s interest in occupational stress and wellbeing has seen her providing consultancy to organisations working towards accreditation in Health at Work: The Corporate Standard. This has provided her with wide experience on employee health and well-being issues within a variety of organisations, from private SME’s to County Councils and NHS Trusts.
Emma is currently project managing a Welsh Assembly funded project studying the education and development needs of the substance misuse sector following the introduction of national occupational standards for the sector. This project has included the establishment of an All Wales Centre of Excellence in Training and Development in Substance Misuse.
